University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust is home to one of the largest teaching hospitals in England, serving over one million residents in the West Midlands. With a workforce of more than 9,000 individuals, the Trust plays a vital role in healthcare delivery, education, and research in the region.
As the demand for Audiology services increased in the aftermath of the pandemic, the Trust found itself facing significant delays in providing timely care for adult patients. Long waiting lists for assessments, fittings, and reviews had led to patient frustration and increased pressure on in-house staff. The Trust was looking for a solution to address this backlog and required an insourcing partner who could seamlessly integrate into their existing operations while delivering high-quality patient care.
Pre-2023, we began collaborating with University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust to provide additional weekend capacity for adult Audiology services. After assessing the Trust's needs, we initiated a plan to supply one or two skilled Audiologists every weekend. These clinicians worked closely with the Trust's staff, allowing the hospital to increase their throughput without disrupting weekday operations.
Each weekend, our clinicians handled approximately 24 patients, focusing on assessments, fittings, and reviews. This consistent, targeted effort helped the Trust reduce the waiting lists and provide timely care to patients who had been waiting extended periods for treatment.

Through our collaborative efforts, we achieved a 90% reduction in the adult Audiology waiting list for assessments, fittings, and reviews. The increased capacity provided by our team allowed the Trust to improve patient access and experience significantly, easing the strain on their internal staff and improving overall service delivery.
